As Founder and CEO of Information Experts, Marissa Levin leads the effort to define, shape,
and evangelize the organization’s values, mission, vision, growth strategy, brand, and corporate culture.
Information Experts is an 8(a) certified, award-winning consultancy that Marissa founded in
1995 in her spare bedroom. IE helps companies and agencies align their business & human capital
strategies, and fulfill their missions through compellng integrated communications and educational programs.
Marissa has led the organization’s entry into the federal market to achieve a sizeable
presence in 17 agencies spanning all facets of government (civilian, defense, and intelligence),
the capture of multiple GSA schedules, the award of the highly competitive OPM TMA Human Capital
and Training Contracts, and many others. Ms. Levin’s key objective is to ensure customer and
employee satisfaction and generate profitability for the company.
Through her knowledge of instructional design, organizational development, integrated
communications, and other areas critical to business and organizational success, Ms. Levin has
become known throughout the national business community as a leader and visionary. She is also

Under her leadership, Information Experts was named as a small business success story for
USAID, has won more than 70 awards for creativity and leadership, and was named to the Inc. 5000
List of America’s Fastest Growing Companies for 2009 and 2010.
Ms. Levin was named as a 2009 and 2010 SmartCEO Smart 100 participant by SmartCEO Magazine,
which recognizes the top 100 CEOs in the region, and was named as a 2008 BRAVO Award winner,
which honors the region’s 25 most influential women CEOs. She was also named as one of Washington’s
Top 100 Technology Titans for 2009 by Washingtonian Magazine. She was a finalist for the 2002
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and for the 2004 Women in Technology Entrepreneur
Leadership Award, and was also named as a finalist for the national Stevie Awards in three
categories: Best Entrepreneur - Service Businesses; Employer of the Year; and Women Helping Women.
Marissa was selected as one of greater Washington’s “Women Who Mean Business” by the Washington
Business Journal, which honors the region’s “most influential and powerful” women executives. In
addition, she was nominated for the Women President’s Organization (WPEO) Outstanding Women's
Business Advocate Award.

dollar government contracting business, how to navigate the challenging transition from private

Marissa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English, and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development
& Instructional Design. She lives in Ashburn, VA with her husband Adam, her sons Jared & Jordan, and
their Golden-Doodle Lexie. When she isn’t penning a column or working on her book, she’s probably
training at the gym, engrossed in a book, or enjoying a concert or theatre production.
